The Gluten and dairy-free soup recipes!

Bone broth

DAIRY FREE II GLUTEN FREE II NUT FREE II PALEO

This healing and nourishing chicken bone broth boosts your immune system, so it is great for the cold months when everyone has a cold or flu. Bone broth is made by simmering the bones for 12 hours or just simmering in a slow cooker.

I put mine together in the evening and let it cook overnight. I then freeze the broth in small containers and use it as a base for noodle soups, gravy, soups, and stews, or sometimes I will drink it just as it is. Read more about the wonders of bone broth for your health here.

Chicken noodle soup

GLUTEN-FREE II DAIRY FREE II NUT-FREE

This is made using the bone broth recipe above. If you want to buy the stock instead of making your own, there are some great organic varieties in the supermarkets. This is such a comforting chicken noodle soup to eat; it’s also anti-inflammatory, thanks to the ginger and garlic I used.

How can you not recover from a cold when you eat this soup? Once the chicken broth has come to a boil, you simply add the noodles, cooked chicken, and veggies and cook for less than 5 minutes. Voila—a lipsmackingly delicious healing meal made in a jiffy!

Thai inspired prawn Tom Yum soup

GLUTEN-FREE II DAIRY FREE II NUT FREE II SOY-FREE

Tom yum soup, also known as tom yam, originates from Thailand. It is a family of hot and sour Thai soups that normally include shrimp or prawns as we say in the UK. The strong, hot, and sour flavours make it very popular in Thai cuisine. The base typically includes water, coconut milk, or chicken broth. Aromatic ingredients like lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, chillies, shallots, and garlic are simmered to extract their flavours.

My recipe uses the bone broth above, but you could also use store-bought chicken broth, fish, or vegetable stock. If your stock needs to be yeast—and gluten-free, try the Marigold brand here or the Kallo brand here.

Or use my recipe for bone broth above. If you can’t eat soy, substitute the soy sauce for coconut aminos, if you are following a gluten free diet, use either liquid aminos or tamari instead. This soup doesn’t take that long to put together. I love these noodle soups in the winter. They are so nourishing and can be made in a matter of minutes.

Leek & potato soup

GLUTEN-FREE II DAIRY-FREE II VEGAN II SOY-FREE

This is a classic British leek and potato soup. It is fantastic as is. If you are not vegan, add some chopped crispy bacon on top.

This recipe is a great base that you can adapt for many other soups. If you want to make a carrot and coriander soup, add 500g of carrots to the mixture with all the vegetables and coriander at the end.

If you want a sweet potato and lentil soup, add two sweet potatoes instead of the white potato and a large handful of orange lentils and simmer till cooked.

Soups can be batch-cooked and frozen, which I do when making soups.

Sweet potato, turmeric and carrot soup

GLUTEN-FREE II DAIRY FREE II VEGAN II SOY FREE II PALEO II NUT-FREE

I cannot begin to tell you how delicious this soup is!! It’s so velvety smooth with a comforting taste of sweet potatoes and cumin, the spices aren’t overpowering but warming to taste.

Using the base recipe above, I just added spices, turmeric, sweet potato and carrots, and finished with coriander, coconut milk and chilli flakes. Omit the chillies if you are following a nightshade-free or AIP diet.

I will also add some brown rice to the soup on those days I’m super hungry and maybe some more cooked veggies.

Spiced lentil, butternut squash and coconut soup.

VEGAN II GLUTEN FREE II SOY FREE II DAIRY FREE II NUT-FREE

Using similar ingredients in the above recipe, I added lemongrass, ginger, cumin ,and garam masala to give it some extra flavour. Topped it with a beautiful silky coriander and garlic oil.

Perfect for those days when you want some spice and comfort at the same time.

Add quinoa to the soup if you feel hungry. It then becomes like a stoupe, a cross between a stew and a soup with Asian flavours. YUM!

 Lentil dhal with sweet potato

VEGAN II GLUTEN FREE II SOY FREE II DAIRY FREE

Spicy and rich in flavour, this sweet potato and lentil curry is made with orange and yellow lentils. I love to cook this dish when I want something warm and savoury but oh-so comforting.

I have served this with pasta, like a vegan Bolognese, which is really tasty. On other occasions, I have also added cooked chicken to the dhal.

Serve it with pasta, a jacket potato, or rice. It’s so yummy—you decide.

Black lentil daal

GLUTEN-FREE II VEGAN II DAIRY-FREE II SOY-FREE

This dish is mildly spiced, featuring an abundance of ginger, garlic, and onions to create a flavourful and robust curry base. It's a perfect and nourishing meal to serve your family or an ideal option for batch cooking and freezing.

Lentils are an economical ingredient, and with just a few simple additions, you can transform them into something truly delectable.

Let them eat bread!!!!
